Women’s World Cup 2025 final

 Women’s World Cup 2025 final

India and South Africa are set to face each other in the Women’s World Cup 2025 final, guaranteeing a new champion in women’s cricket. While this marks India’s third appearance in a World Cup final, South Africa will be playing at this stage for the very first time. The victorious team will not only lift the most prestigious trophy in women’s cricket but will also claim a record-breaking prize purse — a staggering USD 4.48 million (approximately ₹39.78 crore), the largest prize money ever awarded in the history of any Cricket World Cup, men’s or women’s.

In September 2025, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced a record prize money pool for the Women’s World Cup 2025.
The total tournament prize pool stands at USD 13.88 million (approximately ₹123 crore), marking a massive 297% increase over the previous edition in 2022.

The winners of the tournament will receive USD 4.48 million — a 239% rise from 2022 — and notably higher than the USD 4 million awarded to the champions of the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
The runners-up will take home USD 2.24 million, which is half of the winner’s amount.

Team India have already earned USD 350,000 (around ₹3.1 crore) as a participation fee and for their three group-stage victoriesSouth Africa, on the other hand, have secured over USD 400,000, having registered two more wins than India in the league phase.

If India go on to win the Women’s World Cup 2025, their total earnings from the tournament are expected to exceed ₹42 crore.

Meanwhile, according to a PTI report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering rewarding the women’s team on par with the men’s side, in line with the “equal pay” policy advocated by former BCCI secretary and current ICC chairman Jay Shah.

Under this policy, the Rohit Sharma-led men’s team received a ₹125 crore reward for winning the T20 World Cup 2024, where they also defeated South Africa in the final.

“The BCCI supports equal pay for men and women. Hence, there are discussions that if our girls win the World Cup, the reward won’t be any less than what the men’s team received. But it wouldn’t be appropriate to make any announcement before they lift the Cup,” a BCCI source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.
